Egg donation is a process by which a woman donates eggs to enable another woman to make her dreams of motherhood come true. Eggs are then fertilized with the sperm of the recipient’s partner, and embryos develop. Then the embryos are transferred to the uterus, which will result in pregnancy. Egg donation is the most effective way leading to a pregnancy in women with an empty ovarian reserve.
The Egg Donation Programme is recommended for:
- Women with primary ovarian insufficiency or premature ovarian failure (POI/POF).
- Women who can not use their own eggs because of reduced quality of oocytes, or congenital diseases that can not be ruled out using PGS/PGD procedures.
- Women who have had multiple unsuccessful IVF-ET.
- Women in whom eggs can not be successfully retrieved from the ovaries.
- Women with a history of multiple miscarriages.
- Women with detected chromosomal anomalies (or such anomalies detected in their embryos).
