IVA – In Vitro Activation – two-stage procedure with biochemical reagents
Stage one
After the medical consultation, analysis of treatment history and the decision on health status, the couple are qualified to start the IVA procedure. The doctor provides comprehensive information on each stage of ovary activation.
Stage two
The first laparoscopic procedure is performed to collect an ovarian strip of about 1 cm surface area. Information on how to prepare for laparoscopy and how this procedure is performed is available in the section Laparoscopy.
Stage three
Within the next 48 hours the collected ovarian strip is activated (sensitized to FSH) by mechanical means (fragmentation) and biochemical agents (PTEN inhibitor/ PI3K stimulator).
Stage four
After 48 hours the second laparoscopy is done to re-implant previously collected and activated strips of the ovary.
Stage five
At this stage, therapy with gonadotropin injections (FSH) starts, and will be continued for a period of time personalized for the patient. You will also be taking oral medications to support the therapy. Pharmacotherapy starts right after laparoscopy and may last up to 6 months. During this period the growth of follicles with mature eggs is observed in about 50% of patients. For the whole time of therapy we remain in constant contact with the treated couple.
