Who can be a candidate for the IVA procedure?
This therapy can be proposed to the following patients:
1. Postmenopausal or perimenopausal women younger than 50 years.
2. Women with low ovarian reserve in whom normal mature eggs have not been retrieved despite stimulation.
3. Women diagnosed with primary ovarian insufficiency or premature ovarian failure (POI/POF).
What are growth factors?
Growth factors are substances naturally produced in some morphotic elements of blood, and a particularly large amount of them is found in platelets. They are secreted in areas of damaged tissue to stimulate repair processes in the body. Platelet-rich plasma has been widely used in medicine, including orthopaedics, sports medicine, treatment of ulcers and aesthetic medicine. Researchers emphasize the high safety of procedures involving PRP, which results, first of all, from the fact that the patient’s own blood components are used. Click here to learn more
The procedure of ovary activation with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) consists of two stages.
Stage 1
Venous blood is sampled from the patient and then centrifuged. This process results in the separation of blood components, so platelet-rich plasma can be obtained. This stage takes about 1 hour.
Stage 2
Platelet-rich plasma is injected with a special needle directly into the ovaries under the guidance of transvaginal ultrasonography. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia, just the same as when retrieving eggs in the procedure for in vitro fertilization (IVF-ET).
